Privacy
Last updated 29 August 2026
There are no accounts, no analytics, no advertising, and no tracking of any kind. Nothing you write — your favourites, your journal, your own recipes — is ever sent anywhere. One feature does make a request to the internet, and it is described below in full.
What stays on your device
All of it, and only on your device — preferences in Apple’s standard UserDefaults store, and the rest as ordinary files in the app’s own folder:
- The cocktails you mark as favourites.
- The ingredients you mark as “on hand” in My Bar.
- Your unit preference (oz or ml).
- Your journal — every drink you log, with its star rating and tasting note.
- The recipes you write yourself, and any you import.
- Your recent searches and the cocktails you have viewed.
None of this is ever transmitted, and none of it is readable by us. Uninstalling the app removes all of it, permanently — there is no copy anywhere else.
Finding a recipe on the web
When you search for a recipe the app does not already have, the words you type are sent to TheCocktailDB and to a small search service on our own server, which look for matching drinks and send back what they find. Only the words you typed are sent. Nothing identifies you, no account or device identifier is attached, and neither service stores the query afterwards. If you never use that feature, nothing is ever sent.
Device motion
The detail view of each cocktail animates the liquid surface and the ice cubes in response to how you tilt the phone. To do that the app reads device-motion data from CoreMotion in real time. The reading is processed instantly to drive the animation and is never stored, logged, or transmitted.
Web version
The same app runs at mixed-beautifully.com as a Progressive Web App. The web version uses the same on-device-only preference storage (browser localStorage in this case) and the same in-memory device-motion access for the slosh animation. The site is hosted on a personal VPS, served by nginx, and ships no analytics or tracking scripts. As with any web server, requests appear in nginx’s ordinary access log; that log is not used for analytics and is not connected to anything else.
